On friday the 22nd, I packed for a little trip to Maranello to be present at the Celebrazione. I had never been there. In this thread you can see all the pics from how that was like: http://www.f-chat.eu/showthread.php?t=438 .
THIS thread here is to let you see the rest of the things I've experienced. For after all; its Italy, a lot of you maybe will recognize this as you have experienced the same. Because the flight to it, the road to maranello (S12), and after Maranello; one day in Milan, it was all very nice! I enjoyed very much. Have a look; maybe you will become in the holiday-mood :).

We drove to a hotel near Charleroi on fridaynight to sleep. At 04.00 am, we had to get up, to get the flight from 06.30.

We literally flew through the clouds; up from us, and down from us. Left and right. What a terrific sight.

Above the clouds it's fantastic! Than suddenly there was south-Germany.

And than.... the Alpes! Look at the mountains and the snow! Thus we flew Italy in!

Look: lago di maggiore! I was there in 2003! On a camping. I could see it. Was a nice surprise. Loved that.
Than the first big city of Italy, and than the Mediterreanian See, and.. Pisa.

The plane flies by Pisa until above the sea, than turned, and than took in for the landing..

We went to collect the rented car, picked it up, a Nissan Micra Diesel, and drove up the highway, which is close to the airport. We had a little trouble finding the right way, especially around an in Lucca, but in the end; we found it; the S12. It goes all the way to Modena. The first kilometers; it was busy and we drove slowly, later on, it became quite, and we could drive 'a little faster' :D :D. The Nissan protested a lot, so dit the tires, and Michael got almost sick; but it was fun-fun-fun :D! All those corners, and beautiful views. Terrific!
So here is where we came from, and here we stopped for a short while, and you see towards we went.

And finally we arrived in Maranello at 13.15. Than we had to pick up our cards and bracelets, entered fiorano, had lunch and were exactly in time for the beginning of the programme at 15.00u..

At the end of sunday, we drove to Milan. We found our hotel a bit luckily, and went into town. Then next day; the hotel appeared to be very lousy, but the view from our room was excellent! :D :D. Interesting billboard; 500 minuti &..... giorni..... tutti. ;). The advertisment above that one wasn't that bad either; lovely ; such a magnum.....
I guess this is typical Italy; it 's all allowed, it's totally normal (ever seen rai Uno? :D). Anyway; the third photo is the entire view from our window.

Monday-morning early I drove MTange to the railwaystation, because he had to go to the airport to get to home. After that I drove towards the centre of the town, and took a parkinggarage. Wenn I walk the pedestrians-exit out, I was immediately in a beautiful shoppingstreet. It turned out to be the Vittorio Emanuelle. With beautiful shops! Because after walking 100 meters... :)...

There it was ! : the Ferrari-store. What a coïncidence! Or no; it just had to be that way of course... :). My angels had just guided me to the right parkinggarage; the one nearest the f-store :D.
The shop wasn't opened yet, so i first went into town, saving that for the afternoon. Advantage: IF i would buy something, i wouldn't have to drag it with me all the day. Because I allready had this pre-feeling..... ;)

Walking into the towncentre, you go to this super Dome, Very beautiful. With a great plaza before it. Great feeling to stand there.

At the left side there's that gate to that shopping-arcade (a kind of mall). That arcade is spectacular beautiful as you can see. With right in the center, the very famous shops of Prada and Louis Vuitton (guys; watch out your wife or girlfriend doesn't see those pictures or you will be dragged to that shop, WITH your credit card....:D).
(last photo taken backwards, towards the dome)

Spent so much money, my wallet was angry with me, felt upset, almost reaped. But hey, we don't do this every year, and i just hád to buy the things I did. A longsleeve race-shirt, mok, aftershave and white 60th ann.v cap.
Brought everything to the car and went back for a visit of the dome..

After that I payed a visit to several other shops and wharehouses, like ''la Rinascente''. Good heavens, 7 stocks of fashion, design, personal care, luxuery, etc like parfums, after shaves, lotions, milks, scrubs, foundation, mascara, eye-liner, rouge, clothes, suits, ties, underwear, bags, wallets, glasswear, etc etc etc. All the big names/marks in fashion have ther own department/box, so this is why Milan is really one of the capitals in this. I made a shot with my little pocketcamera, but immediately a security-gorilla was next to me telling that that was not allowed.
Well, strolled aroud some bit, had a nice dinner in the arcade, watched people, let me made a picture of my self and that was that than..

Went to my hotel, in the busy hour; traffic jam (my goodness: driving in Milan looks like testing on Fiorano; with this difference, all kind of scooters overhaul you, left, right, above, under :D ), rested a bit, had dinner, searched for new diesel in the tank, because the next day I had to get up early to drive to the Orio y Serio-airport. Went up at 05.12 (seemed to be a perfect time to get up :)), and everything went okay. Flew back to Charleroi where my car still was; and drove immediately to Germany to the Nürburgring as quick as I could to be present at the Modena Track Days from tuesday and wednesday. Just to see some more Ferrari's :D. You can see the pics overthere.
What a superb weekend it was! I will never forget it. Can't realize yet that this is only once in the 10 years, so that i have to wait another 9,9 years... :(

Very nice pictures, we were there a couple of years ago, nice to see nothing seemed to have changed. Next time, we go to Milano with the Ferrari, 2008 or 2009
I was in Milano last week for business and took the time to visit the 'Museo Storico Alfa Romeo' that is in Arese (the north west of Milano) at the old A.R. factory premisses. This is a fantastic museum and the entrance is free!! including a beautifull catalogue. Here is besides a large amount of Italian carsport history the possibility to see the first Suderia Ferrari (Alfa Romeo) racing cars. Unfirtunately did I not carry my camara but will come back to do so

Very nice pictures, Robert. Italy is a fantastic country. The style, the people, the food, the scenery, everything is "Dolce vita!". I was there several times on vacation....
I visit Lido di Jesolo, Alassio, Venetia and Maranello. Italia, I love it!:

Yeah, i am getting fan of it too; especially when you walk in Bergamo in 20 degrees and sunshine, and than after a 1,5 hour flight you come home here on Eindhoven and walk in the rain and 12 degrees....:(. Not to mention that the pizza's are much better over there and only costs 5 or 6 euro!
The north of Italy is beautifull but please try once to go to Umbria which is just under the Toscani with numurous small roads and romantic and ancient villages combined with lots of wine and olive oil production

Of course, I agree. But I do find it a shame that every time you return home again, your F got an additional 3000-3500km on the clock
yes that's true, but don't forget what Enzo said, They are made for driving.:

No probl, and when you calculate it; not thát more expensive than driving if you calculate a km-price! :
Franc,
to be honest my vacation is always sinds the 1970 all about driving in italy, this year only after we wend to maranello for the 60 year cellebration we drove around for two weeks on lake garda and lake maggiore and three weeks later again we drove to venedig and always with the 308 and never any problem, only refulling the fueltank and check the oil.

Roberts idea of taking the night train to Verona makes a lot of sence since you put the car in the evening on the train and you sleep in the same train get a nice breakfast and at about 10.00 hrs you start your F in Italy with 28 degrees, sun is of course shining so you head for the Toscany and Umbria to be there in time for your lunch with a nice dry white wine......Price for 2 persons including car is some 700 Euro. O.k. I have not done it yet but will and a collegue from me just did it
